Space Cadets Yoga

Last week must have been one of the most fun yoga challenges I’ve hosted as myself, Steph (@stephaniekicksbutt), Miraj (@mirajfindingbalance), Pep (@pepijnvn), Adell (@dragonyoga), Bay (@benditlikebay), Sigi (@sigikolbe) and Leigh (@leighemily) put on our @Werkshop pants and went on a spacey adventure to stretch and open our practice by focusing on poses to create that extra bit of space in our bodies.

Unforeseen to us our ‘spacey’ theme went into a whole other dimension as we travelled through the galaxies and I just couldn’t resist sharing this story we created of our crazy spacey adventure together:

Disclaimer: you will probably think what on earth am I going on about and this may be more of an ‘inside joke’ so check out the #SpaceCadetsYoga hashtag on Instagram and all will be revealed.

Day 1 – Gate Pose – We have lift off as the gates open and we blast up into atmosphere to start our spacey adventure.
Day 2 – Eka Pada Koundinyasana – Today we’re flying high as we move into warp drive, stretching our legs to find and fill this new found space.

Day 3 – Extended Side Angle Pose – Extending our journey and stretching even further into space whilst reaching for unknown worlds beyond.

Day 4 – Monkey Pose – Our ship has ‘split’ apart and we’re hurtling through space hoping we don’t land on the infamous planet ruled by monkeys.

Day 5 – Lizard Pose – Luckily we missed the Planet of the Apes but there’s no time to relax as we soon realised we’ve instead landed on a strange planet ruled by lizards and quickly have to blend in.

Day 6 – Wheel Pose – We managed to escape the lizardy land and now we’re travelling ROUND and ROUND the universe wondering where we’ll land next.

Day 7 – Supta Samakonasana – Today is our first day in relative safety so we can relax and rest for a moment and have a hip opening party.

Day 8 – Three Legged Dog - We woke up this morning and appear to be on a magical planet so while we’re in this safe haven we all found a good yoga spot to enjoy a good stretch.

Day 9 – Low Lunge with Backbend - We're nearing the end of our space journey but not before we land one more time into a low lunge. The force of the landing seems to have blown us all backwards so we made sure to stretch into our best backbend.

Day 10 – BONUS POSE - We've landed home safely but unfortunately have an extra member in our cargo which goes by some crazy arm balancing form.

This journey together has been so fun.
